Wedding in Farnham Surrey
Wedding in Farnham Surrey at a local church, then onto a reception at the lovely Farnham House Hotel. Are you planning on getting married in or near Farnham in Surrey? if so you will be spoilt for choice for wedding venues as there seem to be a few in close proximity, and all gorgeous for very different reasons. If you are still researching your wedding venue, I always joke that you would do well to ask a wedding photographer their opinion! As wedding suppliers we get to see many venues, and not just casually for an hour or so to set up, but far more intimately throughout the whole length of the wedding day! Do you know that as a wedding photographer, we are the only suppliers who are with you throughout the entire day (apart from the Hotel staff – and even then if its a church wedding they only get to see the second act!).
Small things make a huge difference, it could be the grounds, how close together they are, if there is a rain cover option, which way the sun shines (yes I know – but it makes a massive difference to your photos, and locations as well!). Are there seated areas, are there private quite areas. I could go on – but I think you probably get my drift by now.
Anyway, back to Wedding in Farnham Surrey – if you need any pointers, just call – otherwise enjoy my set of photographs from a small and intimate wedding in the spring at Farnham House Hotel.
April Wedding photography at Northbrook Park
Weddings in April are magical! its just the time of year when we have all just about had enough of the dark and cold, and although there is always the threat of April showers, we also get blessed with some beautiful days of sun and warmth when everything is in buf=d and ready to bloom! April is a lovely time of the year to get married, and below are some shots of April Wedding photography at Northbrook Park, just outside of Farnham Surrey.
The details for Colin and Mikaela’s wedding were gorgeous, with a unique colour palette combining lilac and pistachio. It must be one of the hardest things to pick a colour scheme for a wedding, but this was just perfect for this time of the year. Their wedding was full of beautiful 9and also delicious) touches! the bridal party arrived ona carriuage pulled by two shire horses, a very grand entrance around the sweeping drive indeed! After the ceremony everyone was treated to free traditional ice cream from a cart set up in the corner, and there was also a sweet trolley to indulge in as well! A day of sugar treats for sure!
I love this shot below of the wedding party enjoying their ice cream – even one of the horses went for a cheeky nibble! The best man and ushers face are just classic – luckily no chocolate ice cream was hurt in the making of this shot!
If you are planning an April Wedding photography at Northbrook Park, or indeed at any other time of the year at this venue or any other, I would love to hear from you! 01252336737

Farnham House Hotel
Farnham House Hotel is a beautiful country mansion nestled up a very long and romantic winding drive just outside of Farnham Surrey – the perfect venue for a traditional English country wedding.
I say traditional, but as with all venues the mood and style can be easily changed through venue dressing and styling, and your own personal touches. What I love about Farnham House Hotel, is that everything is right there, in one gorgeous little package. There is an area if you wish to have a wedding outside, or a more traditional oak panelled room if you fancy a more intimate and cosy feel. The inside space and staircase are gorgeous should the whether make you stay indoors, or the gardens at Farnham House Hotel are, well, what can I say, inspirational. I usually find it hard to narrow down the locations for photographs, and it works on so many levels photographically as a venue, with gorgeous light, trees, blossom, fields of horses, quirky gates and unique nooks and textured walls. It really does have it all whatever style of wedding that you are planning!
Farnham House Hotel can offer either a civil ceremony option (as I said, indoors or out – weather depending!), or in this case as a local Farnham venue after a traditional church wedding. I always love a church wedding, especially one as pretty as this one in Wrecclesham. It also meant that there was a long and windy drive up the long approach to Farnham House Hotel, where we also stopped the car momentarily to get some photographs with the horses that were there to greet us!
The cars for this wedding were also very special, the groom being able to borrow and drive an Aston Martin from work. Of course we also made the most of that in the photos, although I am not sure how easy it was for the bride to get in and out of!
Congratulations if you are recently engaged!
After christmas is always a busy time for anyone who is recently engaged. First of all Christmas is the perfect (and romantic) time to ask for someones hand in marriage! The idea of warm cosy fires, love and diamonds is a combination too hard to resist – surely!
That brings a new year of excitement and wedding planning! The wedding dress is usually the first on the list – mostly because it is the most exciting. I know it was for me – I was out trying dresses and making appointments long before I had my venue or date for the wedding. Then there is the venue – which these days there are so many magical and unique options, that it really can take a lot of researching. However I still believe, a bit like when buying a house that you do get a feel for whats right, and soon know if its the right place for you (budget allowing!)
Finding the right local wedding suppliers also takes time – a good tip and I have got this from my clients, is that a wedding photographers display albums are generally a whole book of planning ideas, wedding colour schemes and styles, venue dressing and cake options, as well as quirky wedding ideas and hand personalised inspiration. its true, as a wedding photographer I am privileged to attend and document many weddings, ranging wildly in style and approach, so that is a great way to get you headed in a particular direction, if you have no clue yet as to what you want!
This blog post is not about how to plan a wedding though. There are hundreds of great wedding sites available for that! What I wanted to share was a few images from recently engaged couples, who whilst planning their weddings, decided that I was the wedding photographer for them! One part of my wedding photography service is to offer an engagement portrait, which is the best way in my case to dispel any fears about posing and having your photograph taken. Now every photographers style is different, and some do use a fair amount of posing and positioning, which is graet! Myself, the key element for me is storytelling, expression and emotion. This comes across best if the camera is not the most important tool that I have. What enables me to get the images that I want is me – my gentle and friendly personality. I like to think funny, but most importantly is my skill to make people feel comfortable.
Once that is done, the rest is down to my skill with light and positioning to make you guys look amazing, at the same time as natural – and after all that, the last crucial element is timing. Timing is everything! A nano second too late and the expression is gone, the moment has passed. No more. Now that is what I do – that is my job, to capture that moment in time, whether you are recently engaged, or about to be married. capture it, record it, and enjoy it for many years to come. Sometimes it feels like a superpower!
Spring wedding Farnham Castle
Spring wedding Farnham Castle – and thats exactly what it was! I am very lucky to be recommended by such an amazing venue. It is always such an absolute pleasure to be photographing a wedding at Farnham Castle! Over the years I have found many unique little spots for photographs that work well in all weathers, and still keep discovering more!
When I first met Sarah and Jonathan, they wanted a very relaxed coverage, with lots of reportage photographs telling the story of their wedding. At the same time they were also keen on having a few key shots to remember their romantic day together. It is usually requested to have a few formal groups, but importantly for them not to be too stiff or formal. Here they were definitely more fun and relaxed, capturing the key family members, friends, and guests at the wedding.
The thing I love about being a documentary wedding photographer is that so much goes on around me! From the details of flowers, to the giggle of a bridesmaid there is so much that makes for amazing wedding photographs. I don’t set up still life shots of details, or always specifically create situations to then document; most of what I do is through observation and prediction! – Yes I have been photographing weddings for quite a few years now which gives me the edge in knowing what may happen, or at least what to look out for!
One of my favourite shots from this wonderful spring wedding Farnham Castle was of the pageboy running away from the wedding group shots! To me it makes the photograph, especially the laughter from the rest of the wedding party – he really was the most gorgeous character!
